Looper

The movie is set in 2047 when the technology of time travel has not been invented and thirty years after that when the technology comes into existence. The idea is to dispose of someone unwanted by sending them back to 2047 where an assassin called the “looper” is waiting to make their kills.

Joe is a respected looper and has his plans to retire to France. Payments are made by strapping silver or golden bars on the victims’ bodies. At one point in time Joe comes face to face with his older self who has been sent for a kill. This is older Joe’s attempt to alter History by saving his wife. He explains his intent and that he wants to kill the Rainmaker as a child so that he does not become a threat later.
In the year 2044, time travel has not yet been invented but in 30 years it will have been. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target into the past where a looper, a hired gun, like Joe is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good until the day the mob decides to close the loop, sending back Joe's future self for assassination.
