The documentary film "I'm not a Negro"-this is a story filled with personal experiences of James Baldwin, the famous American novelist, essayist and Crusader for human rights, which is often referred to as a direct follower of Martin Luther King.

Born into a poor family, James faced severe difficulties. He was the eldest in a family, so from childhood, began to realize the importance of caring for loved ones. Watching his stepfather, servants of the Church, James decided to go in his footsteps. But the older he grew, the more I understood that preaching strongly disagree with what is happening on the streets. Then he got interested in literary activity. Baldwin began to write about his understanding of the world and their views. His first notes and articles were imbued with the indignation of racism faced it personally. In 1979 year James wrote a letter to his literary agent, describing the idea of a new book, in which he wanted to write about Malkolme Ikse, Everse Medgare and Martin Ljutere King. However, managed to complete only 30 pages of text.
Working from the text of James Baldwin’s unfinished final novel, director Raoul Peck creates a meditation on what it means to be Black in the United States.
