Bitter Harvest

The movie covers the period of 1932 - 1933 when time of awful hunger reigned in many Soviet republics. These years between two world Wars claimed many human lives and in the territory of Ukraine they entered as Famine-Genocide time. It occurred against collectivizations, a crop failure, adverse weather conditions and pernicious carrying out policy of the authorities. But meanwhile, as in the Ukrainian republic there came the Drama period which entailed exhaustion of the population and increasing a crop of a devil, there is a romantic moment between two main characters for whom the love becomes the only subsistence.
Set between the two World Wars and based on true historical events, Bitter Harvest conveys the untold story of the Holodomor, the genocidal famine engineered by the tyrant Joseph Stalin. The film displays a powerful tale of love, honour, rebellion and survival at a time when Ukraine was forced to adjust to the horrifying territorial ambitions of the burgeoning Soviet Union.
