Carl Fredricksen from childhood dreamed of great journeys and discoveries. Being a big fan of Charles Manca, who traveled to South America in the company of their trained dogs, Karl dreamed of someday go to Paradise falls and repeat his feats. While still a small boy, Carl became acquainted with Elli-girl-next-door, who shared his passion for travel and also wanted to get into South America. Together they have spent all my life and have grown old, and not having his dream.

After the death of Elly Karl was the only elderly landlord in a rapidly developing urban area, and when a court order evicted him in a nursing home, he took the momentous decision of his life. Filling gas hundreds of balloons, he, along with his house went up in the air to overcome the distance to Paradise falls. The problem is that on the porch of the House turned out to be a complete small Scout Russell, eager to help the elderly.
Carl Fredricksen spent his entire life dreaming of exploring the globe and experiencing life to its fullest. But at age 78, life seems to have passed him by, until a twist of fate (and a persistent 8-year old Wilderness Explorer named Russell) gives him a new lease on life.
